Here is an alternative method to recover windows xp on eee pc using USB.
Requirements.
1. A PC with DVD Drive
2. Eee PC XP Support DVD (Which comes with your EEE PC. It have ghost images of XP)
3. USD Stick (atleast 4 GB)
4. UltraISO Trial Version
Insert Asus Eee pc recovery dvd into DVD drive. Download and install ultraiso trial version fromhttp://www.ezbsystems.com/ultraiso/download.htm . Open UltraISO as Administrator (right-click shortcut, "Run as Administrator").
Goto 'File' menu and click 'Open CD/DVD...' and choose recovery dvd drive letter and open. Recovery DVD contents will be loaded in Ultra ISO.
Plug USB drive and click on 'Bootable' menu and choose 'Write Disk Image' in Ultraiso.
